Sometimes, unknowingly we find a place that immediately becomes very close to heart for simple things and that’s exactly what happens when you visit Blue Sapphire.
Blue Sapphire is an Indo-Chinese eatery, one among the many restaurants of JLT, Cluster I, Dubai. It has a wonderful lake view from its entrance and the interiors is mellow and luminous.
The cuisine is believed to have originated from the Chinese of Kolkata and food tend to be flavored with spices such as cumin, coriander seeds, and turmeric, with a few regional exceptions.Hot chili, ginger, garlic, sesame seeds, dry red chilies, black pepper corns and yogurt are also frequently used in dishes.
I was here recently for dinner after a long tiresome day and we were greeted by Ms. Aroura and my host Mr. John with a warm smile and let us get comfortable. She brought fresh orange juice for me and apple juice for my partner. So refreshing..!
The Ambiance is calm, soothing, simple and elegant. This is one of those indo-chinese restaurants that doesn’t put up too much chinese decor and one must trust what they bring to the table.
We called for Veg Tom Yum soup and oh! how do I furnish evidence about how tasty it was? The smell of lime leaves, perfectly boiled vegetables and the flavors of galangal, chillies and lemon grass brought us back to life from being zombies all day long. I really recommend this to everyone who visits Blue Sapphire. I am sure this is the Best Tom Yum soup in the town. It reminded me of home, for the reason that its simple and appetizing. I can’t wait for the weather to cool down a little bit so I get to enjoy this soup outdoors with a great lake view.
For starters Mr. John suggested us Crispy vegetables with fried spinach and samples of steamed dumplings and fried dumplings. I fell in love with the fried spinach and the fried dumplings. Dumplings was filled with generous portions of mildly spiced, finely chopped veggies and it went really well with the fresh home-made chilli garlic dip.
For main course Hubby and I were debating upon rice vs noodles and thanks to Mr John. He suggested we try the Blue Sapphire signature dish- Blue Sapphire Rice. It is the Mix of everything they make, rice, noodles and chopsueys. Interesting isn’t it? So who wont the debate? Mr. John.
Along with the Blue sapphire Rice, I ordered for Veg Manchurian. Manchurian is my favorite and I prefer it with fried rice. But now I realized that the Veg Manchurian goes really well with the Blue sapphire rice.
Manchurian and Blue Sapphire rice comes in generous portions enough for two and I undoubtedly recommend this combination. Manchurian was made to perfection, spiced aptly and piping hot. Blue sapphire rice is nothing but a surprise every morsel. Sometimes its only rice and tastes like Schezwan, other time like hakka noodles and another time like Chopsuey.
And the star of the day, Darsaan with ice cream was the best so far I have had. Hot noodle strips dipped in sugar syrup, sprinkled with sesame seeds topped with 2 scoops of ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce. Hubby and I enjoyed this so much. He had never tried Darsaan before and thanks to Blue sapphire for having it on their menu.
Blue sapphire is one of my go-to places when it comes to comfort food with a view and soothing ambiance.
